Construction is 70 per cent complete on Regina’s Ronald McDonald House.

In February 2025 the provincial government announced $6.5 million in funding to get construction started, and the house is set to be open by January 2027.

The house accomodates families in need of support and a place to stay during long hospital stays in the city. The project is about 70 per cent complete.

The Ronald McDonald House in Regina will provide a “home-away-from-home” for families whose children are undergoing treatments at nearby health care facilities.

The design includes 20 bedrooms, a children’s playroom, outdoor play space and communal kitchen.

The new facility is being built on the corner of Scarth Street and 15th Avenue, keeping the facility centrally located and close to the Regina General Hospital.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan was founded in 1985 and currently operates two programs in Saskatchewan with Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon and Family Room in Prince Albert. More than 30,00 Saskatchewan families have been served by these programs.

People from the local area have helped fundraise for the Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan organization through many different initiatives.

Summer Heide of Moosomin organized the Small Towns, Big Hearts: Rural Love for Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan fundraiser in support of the Ronald McDonald House organization in Saskatchewan last winter after her family experienced long hospital stays in Saskatoon just across the street from the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, keeping their family together.

Chris MacPherson donated $14,500 to the Ronald McDonald House from proceeds of two bred heifers sold, with one of those heifers being bought and then donated back to be auctioned off again at Whitewood Livestock in February 2025 after his family had to use Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton when his daughter was born.

The second heifer at the auction was purchased by Levi Jamieson Farms of Moosomin. Levi Jamieson and his family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon after an ATV accident in 2021. He says the Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon was amazing.
